Abu Dhabi, the capital and the largest of the UAE’s seven emirates and yet second most populous city in the United Arab Emirates (the most populous being Dubai) is becoming an international tourist destination with millions of travelling air passengers who went through Abu Dhabi International Airport in 2016. “Etihad Airways accounted for 76 per cent of traffic at the airport last year,” tells The National.

The latest data from the 23rd anniversary World Travel Awards that acknowledges the best in the business mentions the Emirate of Abu Dhabi is among the big winners of the World Travel Awards 2016 which recognizes the successes of economy air travel, tourism and hospitality establishments. World Travel Awards also reveals that Abu Dhabi is among the ‘World’s Leading Cultural City Destinations’ to date.
So how can you get to Abu Dhabi? The UAE Flight Partnerships with Alitalia, American and Etihad Airways has given boost for travel and tourism, according to the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi).
TCA Abu Dhabi said the tourist numbers for 2017 are expected to grow with 11 offices worldwide that help in its marketing campaign promoting flight connections to and from the emirate.
Here’s how the Alitalia and Etihad Partnership has affected International Tourism & Hospitality: for one, it has capitalized on growing flight traffic between Italy and the UAE to welcome leisure and business travelers who’ve been able to connect to key markets via hubs in both Italy and Abu Dhabi. Etihad Airways currently operates daily services from Abu Dhabi to Rome and Milan, which complement Alitalia’s five flights a week from Rome Fiumicino or Milan Malpensa to Abu Dhabi. As a result, this investment has gone on to provide more financial stability for Alitalia, and has provided a long-term opportunity for growth for the travel industry in Italy and the UAE.
Meanwhile, the US-Gulf Carrier Partnership between Etihad and American Airlines is also going strong. Etihad Airways codeshares with American Airlines, which is one of the largest airlines in the world; the expanded partnership with Etihad has helped passengers with more options for interline connections to and from North America and the UAE.
The three airlines (Alitalia, Etihad, American) have joined together to offer more choices and promote tourism services and hospitality between the countries they serve.
