Expo 2015 in Milan Builds Visibility for Abu DhabiAbu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority, TCA Abu Dhabi, is keen to attract more GCC visitors to the capital and aims to attract even more tourists from around the world through EXPO 2015 in Milan; this will be thanks to the effort to build visibility and awareness of the city with promotional activities and visitors’ experience opportunities.

The UAE pavilion at Expo Milano 2015 features visual and digital activities highlighting the identity of Abu Dhabi, including its food and culture, thriving events and business scene, and the city’s nature and sustainability credentials, reported the Emirates News Agency, WAM.

Bruno Pasquino, the Commissioner-General for Expo Milano 2015, said there has been so far an overwhelming turn out of visitors to the UAE Pavilion that displays attributes of Abu Dhabi through a series of engaging, stimulating and traditional activities.

Jasem Al Darmaki, TCA Abu Dhabi Acting Director-General, stated the partnership with Alitalia and Etihad Airways provides Italians (and not only) more flights to and from Milan and Abu Dhabi.

As official carriers, Etihad Airways and Alitalia play key roles in bringing visitors to and from Milan Expo; it is estimated that eight million will be travelling to the event by air, affirmed a media source, The National. The expo is likely to attract travelers from key markets in North and South America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia, said James Hogan, President and Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways and Vice Chairman of Alitalia.

Alitalia and Etihad Airways’ two-story joint pavilion is serving as a highlight of the Expo experience in offering a multimedia experience around the theme of ‘Connecting the World Journey’, using cutting-edge technology and large interactive screens for visitors to discover the world as they have never seen it before.

During the six-month expo in Milan, visitors are welcomed at the Etihad Airways and Alitalia pavilion – the airlines are the official carriers for the global fair – to learn more about both airlines. There is even an interactive game for those that wish to test their piloting skills on two operational flight simulators.

The joint pavilion also provides a dedicated area where several daily cooking demonstrations will be conducted by celebrity chefs, including Italy’s Gabriele Rubini, known as Chef Rubio, and the UAE’s Chef Khulood Atiq who brings the tastes and smells of traditional Emirati hospitality, foods and spices to life. His presentations unveil the secrets of the Emirati kitchen.

Apart from the Alitalia and Etihad Airways joint pavilion that serves as a multimedia hub and live cooking demonstrations by celebrity chefs, there are engaging workshops that will introduce the audience to Emirati handicrafts through hands-on opportunities to learn the ancient weaving art of ‘Telli’.

In addition, a series of promotional activities is dedicated to Abu Dhabi tourism to give potential visitors a glimpse at hotels, attractions, destinations and transportation companies that were nominated and recognized for their expanding range of quality experiences. Expo visitors can watch a presentation on Expo 2020 Dubai and Emirati traditions, hospitality and cuisine too.
